Il récompense chaque année depuis 1983 des ouvrages de science-fiction publiés directement sous la forme de livres de poche, Parmi les lauréats les plus célèbres Ian McDonald, M. John Harrison, Richard Morgan, Richard Paul Russo, China Miéville, Michael Marshall , Stephen Baxter, Robert Charles Wilson, Paul J.McAuley, Tim Powers ou William Gibson. 

 

Le lauréat 2013 est donc Lost Everything de Brian Francis Slattery. A noter que le jury a fait une citation spéciale pour Lovestar de Andri Snær Magnason. 

 

Le prix Hugo
